Are you recently engaged and wondering what are the best locations to have some engagement photos taken in Dallas / Fort Worth area? First of all, congratulations!! What an exciting time for you both. I have been photographing couples for almost 10 years and have compiled a list of my 10 favorite locations for engagement photos. Feel free to check them out below.
1. Sundance Square
Sundance Square has been one of my most requested locations for engagement photos in Fort Worth in the last couple of years. I love that the fountains are for viewing only during certain hours and we can plan to shoot without worrying about a bunch of other people being in our photos. This location does require a permit but your photographer can arrange this for you. I usually walk around with the couple and find cute spots in alleys to take some fun shots.
2. Trinity Park and W 7th Bridge
I love this location combo. We usually start at Trinity Park for some more casual photos. It’s especially convenient if the couple wants to bring their dog for a few photos. We then walk over to the W 7th bridge closer to sunset and for some night shots.
3. Kimbell Art Museum
Kimbell Art Museum has been my go to for all kinds for photo sessions. I even take my daughter there often to photograph her just for fun. It’s usually never too busy and we don’t have to worry about getting too many people in our shot in the background. It has a very clean look with some gorgeous architecture to be used as a backdrop. It can be dressed up or down depending on the look the couple desires.
4. Fort Worth Botanical Gardens
This is always a great location year round. I do recommend paying a little extra for the Japanese Gardens as it’s the most beautiful.
5. Winspear Opera House
I love this location for the couples that wish to have a more elegant and classy look to their engagement photos vs a casual look. The architecture is clean and beautiful and provides a gorgeous backdrop for photos.
6. Grapevine Botanical Gardens
This location is very laid back and casual but usually not too busy and has pretty natural light right before sunset.
7. White Rock Lake
White Rock Late is probably the best location for sunset photos if that’s something that you’d like to have. I am obsessed with sunset photos, so you’ll see me there often! ????
8. Deep Ellum
Deep Ellum’s never ending supply of fun murals make this a very popular location. I do recommend going on a weekday as it gets pretty busy during the weekday and some murals are hard to access due to parked cars in front of them.
9. Fort Worth Stockyards
Fort Worth Stockyards is also a very popular location, especially for the true Fort Worthians. ???? I do enjoy it a lot but also recommend going during the week as it can get a little crazy.
10. McKinney Cotton Mill
This location requires a fee and a reservation but I absolutely love it. It’s so fun and versatile. I could literally shoot there all day and never run out of ideas. I also LOVE it from bridal sessions.
There you have it. I hope list this helps you get some ideas for your engagement photo session. If you have a location near and dear to your hart, you can always ask your photographer to meet you there instead. I’m always up for exploring new locations and love when clients want to do the same.
